What's Essential About Essential Oils?

What are Essential Oils?

I often get asked this question. Many people are often confused by essential oils and think that they are oils such as olive oil or sweet almond oil.

In simple terms essential oils are the oil of the plant from which they are extracted.

The essential part comes from the fact that the oil carries a distinctive scent, or essence of the plant.

Why do I use them in my Products?

In addition to their aromatic qualities essential oils possess a wide range of therapeutic properties that include improving your skin, enhancing your mood and easing aches and pains.

Lavender essential oil is one of the most popular oils in the world. It is well known for its relaxing and calming properties and the smell can transport you to beautiful lavender fields. It is a great oil for stress and may help to relieve headaches and migraines.

Lemongrass is the ultimate “wake up” essential oil and is great for revitalising a tired mind and body. It’s another very popular oil and people seem to instantly fall in love with it at first sniff! Early in the morning or after an intensive workout, lemongrass will lift your spirits and make you feel energised.

Cedarwood essential oil has a wonderful woody aroma and can improve oily skin. It also helps calm and balance energy so it’s ideal if you are feeling restless or you have a busy schedule.

Sweet orange is an uplifting essential oil and is used in aromatherapy to create happiness and warmth. Think warm summer nights in tropical climes! Orange oil is a good general skin tonic and soothes dry and irritated skin.

Lime essential oil can help lift your mood and banish the blues. It is great for toning the skin and the fresh smell is very addictive.

There are so many wonderful essential oils with amazing benefits.

Important

Please remember that essential oils are very concentrated and powerful oils and should not be used at home to treat serious medical or psychological conditions. If you are pregnant it is always a good idea to talk to your doctor or midwife before using essential oils.
